I'm honored to be included in the incredible collection at the new University Health Women and Children's Hospital in San Antonio (@universityhealthsa). At a time when women and children have lost so much access to healthcare in Texas, it is refreshing and comforting to see this space created for the care of our bodies.

We attended the opening last weekend and saw a hospital full of color, light, optimism and creativity around every corner. Imagining how much comfort this environment will bring to its thousands of future patients.

This is the first in a series of four paintings based on actual patients who healed and recovered under the care of University Hospital. They depict women with their children. Thank you to Allison Hays Lane, China Whitby and University Health for your support for the arts and healing!

From 2010 to 2015, I collaborated with Curator and Archivist, Allison Hays Lane, on the research, development, design and build of this collection - the SaludArte: Art of Healing Program, established by University Health in 2010. The program's vision is to utilize art to inspire healing, compassion, hope, and trust, recognizing the therapeutic benefits that exposure to art, nature, color, and light can provide in a medical setting. It is still thriving today and continues to spread art in new hospitals through the region.
